2022 Sabino Canyon Race Recap

On a beautiful Saturday evening, April 2, 2022, we were finally able to get back to racing in Sabino Canyon after a 2 year hiatus!

The men’s race was smoked by Charlie Ware in a very impressive time of 41:37, he was followed by Jose Delgado in 45:24 and Robert Rozetko (at 54 years young) was third in 47:28. With Robert pulled out of the Master’s category, that was won by Brian LeRoy in 48:17.

For the women the crown was won by Amy Cole in an outstanding time of 49:34, followed by Devan Gengler in 56:11 and Asleigh Thompson in 56:15. The master’s crown was taken by Lacey Rao in 1:10:25.

Many thanks to our fantastic sponsors, Summit Hut, Performance Footwear, Inspired Life Mortgage and Eegees.

We’d also like to thank the Forest Service, DJ Rich and RoadRunnerRaceTiming.

Our selfless volunteer crew, whom it is impossible to thank enough, included Lauren Erdelyi, Caroline Gardiner, Dave Dixon, Gary Parcher, Joe Plassmann, Kelly Mack, John Wise, Cyndi Miller, Midge Ochart, Libby WIldermuth, Connie Lopez, Thomas Murray, Derek Shaw, Paulina Yates, Paulette Yates, Jennie Duberstein, Jammie Madden, David Edmeades, Chrissy Parks, Karen Rohret, Ava Cassidy, Tyler Foutch, Mark Edwards, Martha Edwards, Monica Bermudez, Kimberly Lamadrid, Craig Haraga, Brian LeRoy, and Melissa Donovan. I apologized to those I have missed who also helped out.

For those that did a virtual run and have emailed results to the RD, or those who won a prize and had to leave before they could pick it up, you can pick up your items from Performance Footwear on Broadway over the next two weeks during their regular business hours.

Until next year, be safe and healthy!
