Desert Leprechaun 2025 – Race Recap

WOW, what an amazing morning! Cool temps, lots of sun, and lots of fun at this morning’s 2025 edition of the Desert Leprechaun 5K & 1M in downtown Tucson!

We owe a huge thank you to so many folks. First, our fantastic volunteers. We appreciate you all more than you know. Second, to the St. Patrick’s Day Festival and Parade Committee. Huna and team, you were wonderful to work with again this year. And, thirdly, to our amazing sponsors, The Running Shop, The Damion Alexander Team with Long Realty, and the Tucson Regulators (who also ran our 5K aid station).

SAR is proud that this event supports the Children of Fallen Officers fund and we truly appreciate your helping us do so by your participation today.

We had an awesome increase in participation this year and we hope that you all help us continue that trend in 2026! We had over 500 finishers in the 5K and about 40 in the 1 Mile, and we trust that a great time was had by all.

The men’s race was won by Max Miller (16:07), followed by Orlando Velasquez (17:12) and Abner Castro (17:29). The men’s master’s winner was Steven Hall (17:36).

The women’s race was won by Jori Galles (17:18). Jori was also third overall! Jori was followed by Whitney Penny and Nicole Pearce in a super-close finish (18:17 and 18:18 respectively). The Women’s Master’s crown was worn by Danielle Avila (21:15). Congrats to everyone on the great races.

Results can be found at runsar.org.

Leftover awards can be claimed at The Running Shop over the next few weeks during their regular business hours.
