What an amazingly beautiful morning in the majestic Sabino Canyon! Incredible colors in the sky and the mountains, along with cool temps, made this event one for the memory books. It simply doesn’t get more spectacular.
As for the running, there were many smiling faces, fast times, and first time FitKidz finishers. After the running, there was free Eegee’s for all, along with lots of snacks and plenty of water. The top three girls were Collins Maben (5:47) – congrats to Collins who was also the overall winner – Finley Johnson (6:03) and Sofia Tilton (6:33). The top three boys were Whitt Balazs (5:55), Emmett Grobe (6:01) and Caleb Lefforge (6:29). And, huge congratulations go out to all the finishers!
We want to truly thank many people for making this event possible. Thank you to the Forest Service for allowing us to have the event in this one-of-a-kind location. Thank you to the Volunteer Naturalists for teaching the kids about so many cool things in the canyon. Thank you to all our sponsors including Desert Diamond Casino, Eegee’s, Jim Click’s Millions for Tucson Raffle, Sunset Screen Print, and all the many individual donors that help to keep the FitKidz program completely free for all kids ages 12 & under. Thanks so much to our many volunteers for being the amazing and giving people that you are. And, thanks much to Connor from Desert Speed Schools for leading our warm up!
Until next year, this is your intrepid Race Director, SteveO, hoping to see you all tomorrow at Jim Click’s Run ‘n’ Roll.
