Thanksgiving Cross-Country Classic – 5K & 1.5 Mile Fun Run/Walk

This event is part of the SAR 2021 Running Shop Grand Prix.

7:00 AM: Day of Race Packet Pickup / Registration

8:00 AM: 5k Women's Start

8:45 AM: 5k Men's Start

9:30 AM: Coed 1.5 Mile Fun Run Start

The Thanksgiving Cross Country Classic (Tucson's Original Turkey Trot!) offers a European style cross country course with hay-bales on grass, dirt and a little asphalt. The 5K course will be two loops and the 1.5 Mile course will be one loop. Course starts near Ramada #10 at the southwest corner of Reid Park, at 22nd Street and Country Club.

Cost if registered by 11/19:

  • 5k SAR Members: $21
  • 5K non-SAR Members: $23
  • Fun Run: $13

Cost if registered between 11/20 - 11/24:

  • 5k SAR Members: $23
  • 5K non-SAR Members: $25
  • Fun Run: $15

Cost if registered at packet pick-up or on race day:

  • 5k: $30
  • Fun Run: $15

Teams and team members must be registered by Tuesday, November 23, 6:00 pm. No team members may sign up race day. No teams may be formed on race day.

Packet Pickup: At The Running Shop during the following dates and times:

  • Saturday 11/20 - 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Monday 11/22 - 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Tuesday 11/23 - 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday 11/24 - 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Thursday 11/25 (Race Day) - 7:00 AM

Packet includes quality cotton shirts for each runner. All Fun Run participants will get a shirt and a finisher's ribbon.

Overall male and female winners and Master's male and female winners will receive a pair of running shoes from The Running Shop. Age groups are 10 and under, 11-13, 14-16, 17-19, 20-24, 5-year divisions through age 79 and over.

First place age group winners receive a turkey. A pie is awarded to second place age group winners and third place winners receive a medal.

The Fun Run is not officially timed.

Teams: The top 4 times of each team of up to 7 team members will be totaled for the best team time. No coed teams allowed. The top two men and women's teams will win awards.

Winners will be announced on SAR website as soon as results are confirmed.
