This 5k is part of the 2023 Running Shop/Mizuno SAR Grand Prix Series.

Race Description:
7:00 AM: Day of Race Packet Pickup / Registration
8:00 AM: 5k Women’s Start
8:50 AM: Open 5k Start
9:30 AM: 1.5 Mile Fun Run Start
The Thanksgiving Cross Country Classic (Tucson’s Original Turkey Trot!) offers a European style cross country course with hay-bales on grass, dirt and a little asphalt. The 5K course will be two loops and the 1.5 Mile course will be one loop. Course starts near Ramada #10 at the southwest corner of Reid Park, at 22nd Street and Country Club. Strollers are welcome although the course is hilly and mostly on grass and dirt. Lanes are provided to bypass the hay-bales. Please no dogs for their safety as well as the safety of all participants.

Cost if registered by 11/17/23:
- 5k SAR Members: $25
- 5K non-SAR Members: $27
- Fun Run: $15
Cost if registered between 11/18/23 – 11/22/23:
- 5k SAR Members: $28
- 5K non-SAR Members: $30
- Fun Run: $18
Cost on race day:
- 5k: $35
- Fun Run: $20

Teams and team members must be registered by Tuesday, November 21, 6:00 pm. No team members may sign up race day. No teams may be formed on race day.

Packet Pickup: At The Running Shop during the following dates and times:
- Saturday 11/18 – 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Monday 11/20 – 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Tuesday 11/21 – 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Wednesday 11/22 – 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Thursday 11/23 (Race Day at Ramada #10 Reid Park) – 7:00 AM
Packet includes quality cotton shirts for each runner. Tee shirts offered in Women’s, Unisex and Youth sizes.All Fun Run participants will get a shirt and a finisher’s ribbon. While we try our best to ensure everyone receives their desired size, shirts are given on a first come, first serve basis.

Awards:
Overall Female and Masters Female winners competing in the Women’s 5K and Overall Open and Masters Open winners competing in the Open 5K will receive a pair of running shoes from The Running Shop. Age groups are 10 and under, 11-13, 14-16, 17-19, 20-24, 5-year divisions through age 79 and 80 and over.
First place age group winners receive a “turkey”. A pie is awarded to second place age group winners and third place winners receive a medal.
The Fun Run is not officially timed.
Teams: The top 4 times of each team of up to 7 team members will be totaled for the best team times. The top two Women’s teams from the Women’s 5K and top two Open teams from the Open 5K will win awards. Teams and team members must be registered by Tuesday, November 21, 6:00 pm. No team members may sign up on race day. No teams may be formed on race day. Winners will be announced on the SAR website as soon as results are confirmed.
Safety Guidelines & Protocols:
We continue to monitor relevant information and consult with public health guidelines appropriate for Pima County and will ensure that all race day activities are compliant with recommendations and best practices.
