As of August, 2021, we are planning on holding an in-person event on the grounds of the Biosphere 2. All permitting agencies have given early-stage approval for a limited-size running and walking event, with limited social events. We will provide additional information as we get closer to race day, but you can help us ensure the ability to produce an in-person event by following standard public health recommendations: get vaccinated, wear face coverings when in large indoor crowds, and be mindful of symptoms.
See our friends at Tucson Medical Center to schedule a vaccine shot: https://vaccine.tmcaz.com/MyChart/OpenScheduling
Having said all that, when running in groups, please continue to take all precautions and please be a good health steward. As the RRCA says, "Don’t show up if you are feeling ill or have flu-like symptoms. Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer after using the port-a-john. DO NOT spit or “farmer blow” your nose in public – bring along tissues or a small towel or a good old fashioned hanky if you need to get rid of some snot during the race. Carry your own fluids to avoid contact with others on course."
In addition to all that advice, if you're running on a treadmill, please continue to be sure to thoroughly wipe down the handrails and monitor before and after you run -- and then wash your hands!
REFUND POLICY: This event follows the standard running industry policy: all entry fees are non-refundable. When you register for this event, you are making a non-refundable purchasing decision and must agree to this policy. You may not give or sell your number to another individual outside of the authorized transfer policy and process - if you do, this will result in disqualification and banishment from this event. This policy stays in effect whether you are injured, have an unexpected business or family emergency, illness, pregnancy, etc. Once you register, unrecoverable race course services and items are paid for for you as if you will be attending the event.
We reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event due to events out of our control such as weather, natural disaster, public health crisis, governmental or court order, or any other reason. No refunds will be issued under these circumstances. We may also alter the courses and distances at any time if required due to course blockages or other restrictions or impediments. I understand that all fees paid for The Event are non-refundable for any reason. If The Event is cancelled because of weather, natural disaster, public health crisis, governmental or court order, or any other reason, refunds will not be given. If possible the event will be postponed and your entry will be transferred to a new date.
Given our current public health crisis, the Event will consider on a case-by-case basis a request for refund, especially by active military who are suddenly deployed and cannot participate in The Event, with official documentation supporting such deployment.
Proceeds will benefit The Biosphere 2, Team Hoyt Arizona, the BEYOND-Tucson Foundation, and the Southern Arizona Roadrunners.
