Race Recap – 2017 Dr. Gann’s Diet of Hope Cinco De Mayo 10K & 5K

The weather was cool, the burritos were hot and the mariachis were a hit! What more could you ask for at Sunday’s Dr. Gann’s Diet of Hope Cinco de Mayo 10K and 5K. Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers and sponsors for your support. This race could not happen without your support and dedication to the Tucson running community. This run has become one of the most family friendly running events in Tucson. With the 5K, 10K and Fitkidz 1 mile, there really was an event for everyone.

Dr. Gann’s Diet of Hope was the Title Sponsor again this year. Dr. Gann has sponsored this event for over 20 years now! New this year were our two Gold Level Sponsors: Desert Diamond Casinos and Entertainment and Clif Kids. The new Clif Kids corner was a huge success as kids enjoyed Clif kids snacks and tested their hand eye coordination in the wrapper grab contest.

Dr. Gann kicked off the awards ceremony where the overall and age group winners received engraved margarita glasses. Overall and first place age group winners also took home gift certificates to Fleet Fleet Sports. In the 5K, on the women’s side first place went to Stephanie Wenneborg (20:59), on the men’s side Raymond Langlais (18:03). The 10K overall winners were Tia Accetta (39:50) and on the men’s side, Robert Scribner (34:01). A huge congrats to them powering through this challenging course! In the team competition, it was a close battle but in the end The Workout Group came out on top with the most participants, winning themselves $75 to Borderlands Brewery and $100 to Magpies!

In it’s 37th year, this race has become a Tucson tradition.
