SAR’s Sabino Canyon Sunset Run has been taking place in the majestic Sabino Canyon for more than 40 years but this year felt extra special. We were back to the event that we all remember from prior to the epidemic that began in 2020. It was a great turnout, with a lot of amazing running, many spectators, and fantastic weather (albeit a bit warm).
In addition to the picturesque backdrop, the runners had a lot of fun, prizes and nourishment greeting them at the finish line including super cool finisher medals, Domino’s Pizza, eegees, fruit, snacks, music, gift certificates, Balega running socks, and much more!
The very competitive men’s race was won by Raul Del Bosque (43:12), followed closely by Peter Davidson (43:27) and Max Miller (43:48). The women’s race was run by a wide margin by Billie Lubis (49:33), followed by Claire Hans (52:53) and Sharon Silvas in (55:12). The Master’s competition for the women was won by Karen Badinger (1:01:04). The men’s masters winner was Ryan Burgess (45:47). Congrats to all!
There is a large and extremely competent volunteer group that makes this event happen so smoothly every year, and we can’t say thank you enough for all of their efforts.
